seekingGod...lovingPeople...walkingTheJourney...Together.
We remember being young children, when anything was possible, nothing was impossible, and we were immortal.  We remember living and breathing in a world where magic abounded and every moment was filled to overflowing with God and his offer of infinite possibility.  We were filled with passion, and our universe and futures were boundless.  Remember what that was like?

Some of us had that childlike sense of awe and wonder ripped from us at a very young age, while others managed to hold on to it a while longer.  Unfortunately, though, reality for most of us has involved a steady and sure loss of what it was to be a child.

Three thousand years ago, a young king named David had lost his innocence in the same way.  King Saul, a father figure for David, had become insanely jealous of his youthful future replacement and was trying to kill him.  David fled to a cave near the town of Adullam.  Everyone in Israel who was struggling, disgruntled, marginalized, and broken were drawn to the king.  They gathered around him there and waited to see what God had for them.  They needed to be filled with Gods power.  God did show up, and they became a powerful force for change and growth in their world, raising David to the status of Israels greatest king.

Now our King, Jesus, is calling us to gather around him again.  We are Adullam, we are the place and the community of Gods empowerment.  He is drawing us into the sweeping epic of his passionate love for his people.  The narrative is woven through all of time and is much bigger than any of us.  We desperately want to be drawn into the Story; to be swept away into the fullness of who we were created to be.  We want to be the light of the world.  We want to set others free to be carried along with us in the Spirit into the advance of the Kingdom of God.

Is this even possible?  Most of us go through our adult lives bored, uninspired, and disillusioned.  War, greed, violence, racism, and other forms of human degradation fill our realities and the evening news.   Is it even possible in the midst of all of this to reclaim what we once had?  Can we live in a world again filled with God and filled with possibility?  We all know there is something more than all of this out there.  There has to be more.  Can we still catch it?

We believe we can…

Just like the Cave of Adullam:

We want to be a place where genuine relationships are formed and nurtured, making us into an authentic community of hope for a despairing world.

We want to be a real presence in our city, meeting felt needs and changing lives, not satisfied to leave people where we found them, but to help foster an entire life of constant transformation and growth.

We want to gather together to worship God - the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - with our whole selves in spirit and in truth, seeking to glorify the Creator of the universe, the object of our passionate love.

We want to wait on God, to be available to participate in the work of the Holy Spirit as the power of the Kingdom of God can break into our world at any moment, unleashing infinite possibilities and hope as we witness the Almighty acting in miraculous ways in the midst of our ordinary lives.

We want to be a supportive place where artists and poets, prophets and dreamers can find freedom to be creative and are empowered to express themselves out of their true gifts, passions, and calling.

We want to be a church that celebrates the diversity and uniqueness of our people; that is orthodox in following God, yet generous in our spirituality; that sees the touch of God in all of life; and that loves to laugh and have fun as people on a journey of faith together.
